In an effort to add to the scare in the spider portion of our haunt, I added a triggered leaping spider. He'll be placed near the front door and will be the final scare the TOT's will have to pass before they get their candy. I'm planning on adding a spitter as well that will add a great hiss to him and also spray a fine mist.
Many thanks to Ron at Halloween Overload for the design and help in building him. I had a great time learning to weld and will be adding a welder to the list of things to purchase for next year.

Pretty neat. I'm fascinated by mechanical movement. This setup could be used for a variety of things. Good work!

Very nice. What was your cost to build this?

Your welding is very clean. I like the up and out movement.
What solenoid and valve did you use? What distributor did you get your cylinder through?"The name is Ash....housewares."

This ended up costing me about $185 to build. $40 for the steel, $90 for the cylinder, solenoid and fittings, $35 for the controller with the PIR trigger and the power supplies and about $20 in assorted bolts, paint, etc.
I get my pneumatic components from AutomationDirect. Here is the link for the cylinder I used - http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/..._Bore/A24100DP__________________________________________________

What paint did you use and where do you get your steel?

I just used flat black Rustoleum spray paint since I had it on hand.
We get the steel from a supplier. You can do an internet search for a local steel supplier that sells to the public. I'll use Home Depot if I just need a short piece but for anything more, it's well worth the trip to the supplier.__________________________________________________

Nice work on this thing. The movement is great. That will definately scare some kids, and grown ups too.

Great work! I'm always impressed by folks who can do this kind of thing. I can't wait to see the spitter attached to it lol
