I want to put a lot more decorations in my yard this year, but I don't want people running through my yard and tripping on cords or taking something.

Do you block off your yard? and if so did you make your own fence and how?

    Thank you

I made my own fence a couple years ago. There is a link someplace, can't remember off hand where. You use 2x1"s if I remember correctly. Then drill holes through two boards, one for top and one for bottom so the holes line up. Use pvc 3/4" to run though and put finials on the top and paint. Pretty easy to do. I fence off the front of my cemetary that way. For other sections, I have used bales of hay or red rope light so they really see it and it gives the props a nice glow.

GhoulInGlitz, Welcome aboard. There are lots of ideas on fencing here on the forum, from using scrap wood, pvc, edging material, foam, etc. to construct it. Some have tutorials illustrating how they were built, others with photos. Use the Search feature at the top of the page and I'm sure you will have hours worth of threads and posts to look through.

Craigslist is your friend, it is your savior, it will provide you with a free fence, just look for "pallets"

I got lucky when a neighbor tore down his pool fence... all seasoned and treated, and I walked off with it all to make this...

I have a couple of different barriers/fences in my haunt. In front of and to one side of the graveyard, I have a pvc fence, in front of my pirate ship I have rope looped between cardboard pilings, I use rope light on the ground to mark the path (not a physical barrier, but it guides most people)

Fence topped with yard sale find:

    Ropes beside the ship area:
