If you were going to build a giant bee hive that people could walk through, how would you approach it?

I have some ideas but, would love to get some other opinions. I would want it to look like a bee hive on the outside, and inside it probably should have some honeycomb look to it. I just want it to be a walk through on a path. it will be inside as well.

    Thanks for your ideas!

I would get foam blocks and then stack and carve. An alternative would be to create the structure from chicken wire and then cover with MonsterMud.

We are working on a "haunted garden" for my son's daycare. They gave us total control. So, we are thinking of one element being this large bee hive. If it's walk-thru it serves a couple of purposes... One, soemthing cool to walk through of course. It's not too scary, it will serve as a "wall" for the next element, and if it's got just bee sounds when you walk through it there is a scary aspect.

Thanks for the help/support/ideas so far!

What? Don't you remember this scene from 'Beeman Begins'?

    Alfred: Why bees, sir?
Bruce: Bees frighten me. It's time my enemies shared my dread.

Best bet would be to use flourecent light diffusers at someplace like Lowes. You can get them in honeycomb cell shapes each at around 2x4 feat roughly if I recall. Might cost you a little though.
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

Chicken wire already has the honey comb look to it so I would start with maybe papermache using tissue paper so that the wire "combs" show thru. The outside could be covered and smeared with great stuff. I'm not sure how to make it sturdy and stand up but if it is going to be inside maybe it can be tied to the ceiling somehow for support. Make sure and show us what you come up with
