The Haunted Mansinn candles that were sold last year through a high end catalog have now come to QVC. Although the price has come down, they still aren't cheap. They are offerd in three colors: ivory, red, and sage. (the red has temporarily sold out)
You can click on the video tab to see it in action.

They sell them (flameless candles) at joanns fabric for much, much cheaper and you can use a coupon most of the time.
You might be a King or a little street sweeper... sooner or later your gonna dance with the reaper!
If I like your product, I MAY buy it... if I love your product, I will just make it myself... for cheaper and better than you did in the first place!

The difference is that any candle besides the luminary brand ones doesnt have the magnetic technology, hence the higher price tag. According to the video no other "flameless" candle can mimic the look of a real flame.
The magnets inside the candle move to make the "flame " move too vs the regular flameless candles that have an led type light with a plastic flame shaped cover over it. The led ones can flicker, but you will always see the plastic outer shell.
The QVC ones are special because it appears to not have that plastic flame shaped stationary shell when turned on. The whole thing looks realistic.
I would absolutely love to reverse engineer one of these things and try to figure it out but sadly I am not electrically savvy nor do I have the funds to buy these awesome candles. :/

Best price I've seen so far on these. Are you getting one?

Those candles look great! I remember them from last year.
I meant to try to see if I could make a prop like that myself, but never got around to it. (Yet!)

I'm debating ordering one just to figure out how to make one. Of course they're not going to take video from angles that break the illusion but to me it seems like the "flame" is flat like stiff silk or something. I do wonder about the brightness level on these as well. I know I keep complaining about it but 90% of fake LED candles out there can barely light up just the candle itself, while a single real candle can light up a good sized pumpkin. They're usually great for ambiance but not much else.

It looks flat to me too! but how is it lit? I thought it was a thin piece of steal at first...but it might just be frosted plexi glass lit from below. Does it use motors? The video leads me to think that it isnt motorized, and more or less flickers via balancing on the candle's body with maybe a magnet at the bottom to keep the "flame" upright. The magnet might not even be necessary.
Here's an interior view as to how I think it may work:

Eyegore, I think you're on the right track. But, it may not be that complicated.
I used to have a pen that would stand on its tip on a flat base. IMO, this could also be done by making one end of the pointed flame with metal. The light seems to be in a small ring around the center (look at the video where she holds her hand over the candle). I'm wondering if this could leave a small area in the center for a magnet.
