I don't mind hand drawing a haunt design on graph paper, but this is the 21st century! Does anyone know of a good program (for MAC preferably, but I also have a PC) that would be good for designing haunts? I have learned through experience that what I draw on graph paper isn't what actually comes out when fully assembled. I ended up with a couple of really narrow doorways and halls that were supposed to be 4 feet wide. I'm hoping to find something that allows me to input measurements like 4' x 8' x 3 1/2" and be able to align the panels and get an actual view of how the haunt will look when assembled. Cheap is good, but free is better. Thanks

A lot of people use "Sketch Up" It's a free download from Google. I have seen some very nice drawings with it . Don't know about entering dimensions though..........

Yeah, Sketchup is the best free one. There's paid ones out there but none of the trials I downloaded when I was trying to redo the blueprints for our warehouse at work seemed like they were worth buying. Sketchup has a bit of a learning curve but it's not too bad.

I designs all my haunts using autocad. I make blocks of walls in the correct size and then copy and past about 900 times rotating to fit.

I forgot which program I used (I'm sure I have a file on it somewhere) but it let you put in your walls (paint, brick, wood, or stucco) , doors, windows, furniture and even light fixtures.

After you finished you could do a walk thur and a aerial view.

I found a few pictures of my design.....the brick wall is the back outside wall of my home and the longer room connected to it was the garage. It really helped to give me a feel of how it would look and the flow.

I pretty much followed the plans ...here's some build photos

I have used sketch up in the past but for just an overhead "blueprint" type of design, I use powerpoint for our professional haunt.. It has a bulilt in grid and I easy draw out each room that way.

I use sketchup as well. You said you use PowerPoint? In what way? I'm trying to figure out how Powerpoint could be used in this way....
