I'm adding a groundbreaker zombie this year. For the body I am using hardware cloth (vinyl coated metal: http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Ma...atalogId=10053)

...and for the heads I plan to use store-bought masks over 1 gallon water bottles.

This is all workable, and an improvement over last year when I just stuffed the shirts with newspaper to give them body, but I wonder if there are better alternatives out there....

If you have something you have been happy working with; lightweight, easy to mold into shape, inexpensive -I'd appreciate it if you'd share it

    thx,
    Ross

For the head, I suggest using a styrofoam head as your base. You might get one from a wig shop or department store, or you could order one from monster guts.

This company sells a great kit to make a ground breaker with positionable joints at $22.00

You could also build the same rig with elbow joints that do not have the range of movement from the home depot and hobby lobby.

I have used tomatoe cages turned upside down. There are three legs. I bend one into the middle to attach head. And the other two are beefed up a little with pool noodles and bent into any position for the arms. Add an old shirt, mask and hands and your done.

I use a PVC frame then wrap chiken wire around it. Then plop on a mannequin head. I use pool noodles to fill out the arms and legs.

These sites may help you with the pvc & chiken wire. (btw- I used to use panty hose stuffed w/ lawn clippings. lol)
