So for my haunt this year I am considering doing the timed lights and sounds thing. My question is what do you haunters like the best. What is it called, where do you get it. Is it easy to program. I have never done anything like that, but after watching a vid on another thread, I really liked it. Thanks for any info. Appreciate you all.

we use timers on everything we plug in. from 7:00pm to 10:00pm in the entire month of October. Sadly, with the bad weather we have here, I can't leave any animatronics outside, only on Halloween night. we have tons of extensions of course.

Are the lights for a prop or overall display? For props I use DMX/VSA/DMXorcist. A computer basically.

We've used two kinds of light shows... The easiest (and cheapest, by far) is the Gemmy Lightshow. You can hook it up to your iPod or other MP3 player and it makes your lights randomly flash in time to the music. You can usually pick up a box at Wal-mart or Target and can find them online all year. We've used it for both Halloween and Christmas (4th of July too).

If you've got some time (and money) to play with, I prefer Light-O-Rama controllers, With this one, you get to decide which lights flash on/off, etc. Way cooler for Halloween displays!

Thanks for the info. Sorry to be a little vague, but yes Terra, an overall display. Halloweenscreamqueen was on the correct path. Lights timed to music. I have read a lot of Light O Rama on these threads. Where is the best place to get it i.e. cheapest? How easy is it to program? Thanks.

I looked on that link on one of your previous posts. It looks kind of complicated. Is it usable for the technology inefficient? Do you need to buy a lot of stuff? Sorry for the ridiculous amount of questions.

Nah, not really difficult, just buy one of their package deals and add your own lights! You can also buy songs, but lots of folks on here are more than happy to share what they've already done (including me).
