I would like to create a hanging vibrating cacoon as a prop for my party. I plan on taking a plastic coffee can and covering it with several layers or cotton/spider webs (and suspending it from a string)...my question is I would like it to shake but the only thing I can think of is to put a bumble ball inside it. Although I'm sure this will work I fear it will shake more violently than I would like.

Does anyone know of a cheap vibrating toy/device that might work?

    Thanks

I think the bumble ball may be the way to go. I was going to use one for several approaches for movement.

The only problem with B-Balls is that they're darn near impossible to trigger remotely. I spent about two weeks trying to figure out how to do it, and the best answer I could come up with was to use a very expensive mercury-filled rotating connector. The battery pack is the rotating counterweight, and attaching trigger wires to it will result in the wires getting wrapped around the central shaft.

On idea that popped into my head was taking apart the "Haunted Hedges" kit you can get at Big Lots/anywhere, a snip here and there, and you could run it on the motion sensor it has in it. Good Luck.

Glad to see no one is taking the low road with vibrating toy suggestions! Have you ever seen the two eyes that have a vibrating motor attached to them called something like monster in the hedge. I think big lots usually carries them fairly cheaply. They are battery powered and sound activated. I got one to put in a shaking caged skeleton but haven't tried it yet.

Do you think something like this could work for you? this is using a 9vdc power supply you get more action by using a 12v power supply or less by using a 5 or 6 v power supply. If you want vibration only you tape it to the side of the container and if you want it to shake and vibrate you can lay something soft like foam in the bottom and just drop one of both of these on top of the foam.
