I was hoping someone could help me with how to make some stuff for a halloween display. I have been chosen to create a halloween display for a front window at the place I work, but have been told I have to do it for no money, and it has to look professional. I have to create everything from scratch. I don't know how to make the stuff and I don't have the time to do any research on techniques and to read a bunch of threads on a forum to find instructions. So I'd like someone to post all the how-to's for me on how to make this stuff and place them all in this one place for me. I have to have clear detailed step by step illustrated instructions from beginning to end or I won't be able to follow it. I will also require downloadable or printable templates or patterns to use or trace for anything that requires cutting, or drawing or anything. and since I have no budget, I'll need a list of places to get free materials that does not require dumpster diving or trash picking, ICK!
Here are what I have been instructed to create:
• 6 jack o lanterns
• one mummy with a gold sarcophagus
• 3 ghosts
• A witch on a broom
• a black cat
• a kid with a trick or treat bag and some kind of home-made looking funny costume
• some kid of weird "spooky" lighting effects
They cannot be made of paper due to safety and durability concerns,
I have no money to spend for anything.
It has to look good, not like a paper mache or anything.
Is this even possible?
Please don't just post a link to some other website or forum with a list of other links or anything. I have to get started on this stuff PFQ and don't have the time to go through all that.

Lots of restrictions there. Good luck - I think you're really going to need it.
I think your last line is pretty arrogant. You want someone to outline a step-by-step construction process that meets your standards, rather than sending you to a site that already has it all typed out with photos. And what if, after all that work on an explanation, you don't like it? Then someone else has to come along and explain another process, hoping it works for you?

There are alot of helpful people on here and they are always willing to help or give advise. However, expecting everything to be laid out in front of you?
May I suggest the search function, find something you like and see if it fits what you need. I'm sure if you find a prop you like and you send a message to the person who made it they would be glad to give you suggestions or send you to a LINK where the directions are.We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.

Window painting is a cheap, non-damaging option. My grandmother and I have been doing it for years for local businesses. You use craft acrylic on glass. It mostly comes off with window cleaner. Anything that happens to get left behind is eliminated with nail polish remover.
I've been working on a few new designs, myself.

And a few older ones to get your mind going.

Here's the thing: you don't have to do the entire window like this. Throw some bats near the top with some gray clouds, a few cracks of lightning, and a witch flying over the moon (easy: solid black silhouette of witch on broomstick, paint yellow moon around it). Or, you could paint on some cornstalks, hay bales, and a scarecrow or two on either side of the window to frame it.
What I'm suggesting is spending a few bucks to pick up some craft acrylic so you limit the viewing window while decorating at the same time. Cutting a foot or two from either side of a large window display can mean big savings. It also gives you a place to hide lighting fixtures you add into the display.

To answer the most important question you asked in the laundry list; No what you are asking is not possible.

Ambitious new haunters are now troll suspects? Good thing I didn't find this forum until I had quite a few haunts under my belt or I would never have been taken seriously.

I think for the most part the people on this forum are more than happy to help out if asked and will go out of their way to do so; that said, I do think the way the question was asked was kind of rude and a little insulting. To have people spend time posting step by step instructions on the off chance it is what you are looking for kind vs. having a link that already has everything on it kind of seems like you think their time isn't as important as yours. I also think the comment "It has to look good, not like a paper mache or anything" was a little unnecessary since quite a few people on this forum (myself included) use this medium. I understand the safety concerns of using paper medium but your point could have been made without that. It probably wasn't intentionally meant to be insulting, but it came out that way.
