Last year our haunted cornfield theme came out awesome. This year our room - 16 x 20 feet - will be a haunted Louisiana swamp. We may use two rooms for this. We are planning some type of little bridges people have to walk over with water underneath. I will have a pirogue in there with a skeleton sitting in it fishing with a bamboo pole. I would love to build some type of old Louisiana house facade with a porch and and od rocking chair. I'm looking for the easiest way to make the facade look like old wood. I do have access to heavy duty cardboard boxes that truck hoods come in. Maybe paint them to look like wood? Any info or pictures would be nice. I'm pretty handy so if you can describe it, I can build it! The following link is last years haunted house. Click on the little play button on the first video. Our room is the one with all the trees and corn. Thanks!

Very cool idea!! I love the idea of a haunted swamp. Here are a few links for tutorials on painting wood. Have you ever considered using foam board insulation or old pallet wood?

Spooky Blue has a great tutorial on his site for faux painting wood carved from foam. I've used his technique before and it turned out awesome:

Here is also a link for faux painting cardboard to look like foam:

And just to throw another idea at you here is a picture of what Skull and Bone made one year. It is made from pallet wood which you can usually pick up for free from various places and the plus is you wouldn't have to faux paint it. You could modify it so it is some type of facade too.

Hey Thanks! The pallet idea sounds like it would be the fastest/easiest! I could make a bigger house with more pallets! Great idea!
