Good Morning!
I'm looking for ideas on how to make a babydoll thrash or shake. It would be perfect if could get the head to do it. The doll will be strapped in a chair.
Thanks for all the help.

You may get inspiration from the Krazy Kristian prop. It surprisingly only uses two pneumatic rods. One mounted to each shoulder:

Just use a small cylinder. Not sure what size the prop is but a small stroke would work great.
A cheap electrical way would be to use a repo saw and attach it to the prop. I would set it at a low speed because it doesn't take much to move.

The prop is a zombie baby that will be strapped into an antique stroller just like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-STROLL-O...d=246748079904.
It's light weight so a single cylinder should work just fine. I was going to attempt to have the prop so it could be pushed around but that may not be possible.
Is there anyway to quiet the sound a cylinder makes? Also, I am VERY new to pneumatics and will be using a picoboo for another prop. Is there another controller that would be suiteable for this one? I don't think it'll have any sound since it will be in close proximity to other sound producing props.
Thanks again.

You can reduce the sound it makes. Some cylinders have a washer or foam that prevents the cylinder from striking metal to metal. I'm guessing this is what you mean. you can always add a few rubber washers at the bottom so when the rod retacts back into the cylinder it reduces the sound greatly.
Also if you attach a rod clevis or similar to the rod, do not thread it all the way to the base. More often then not the nut will strike the cylinder stopping it when it could retact more. This makes the cylinders even louder because the nut hits the nose of the cylinder.
The solenoids have exhaust mufflers you can put on them to reduce the sound also...just in case you were talking about air hissing or noise.
