I am trying to bring my witches in from the rain and am looking at ideas for a witch's abode.
Mine will need to be big enough for 2 and possibly 3 witches.

Yubney, enclosing the porch is a great idea but our front porch is too small. I do like the weathered look yours has. Thanks, and Xpendable, that could work. Cool website and animated spider Thanks too. I remember seeing some pallet based shacks. Anyone have a pic of theirs?

im in the curents of working on one. the back is pallet wood on the bottom half followed by a wall look ing wood that is white so its meant to look like a butcher shop wall and then i iwll be making a roof frame with black plastic and a small drainage system maybe making i on an angle.

First of all, your witches are magnificent. It's a delight to see such artfully done props.
So, I have been thinking about your predicament for a good long while - Where do you put your wonderful coven of witches to best show them off and get them out of the rain?
Then it finally hit me. Hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks. It's obvious. The best (and only) place you should put them is at the bottom your indoor swimming pool.
Simply drain your pool and make a spooky covering to go over the top of your pool to seal out the light and make it look like a cave or grotto. I am thinking lots of burlap and twigs.
Then build a simple winding wooden ramp or staircase to lead your TOTs down into the depths of the pool where they will experience the spooky witch tableau. And build another ramp leading them out of the pool.
You can change out the pool lights with more spooky-looking colored floods etc.
I am so excited by this idea. Please post your photos and/or videos once you have set this all up.

Thanks ctarpey, I read somewhere that once you have a permanent roof on a structure you need a permit to build, so your plastic idea is great.

    octoberist,
I've always wanted to do a backyard haunt until I found out how extremely liable you are for any injuries on your property. I love the idea of a 3D witch experience- looking down on them and then descending to see them. But since I would have to first dig a hole for a pool, I will leave this idea to my SoCal brethren/sisters. I have an old trampoline frame cut in half and made into an arch that I am thinking using as a frame but it needs more bumpy shapes to add character to it. I will post some pics and sketches.

i did it because of storage. after all that pallet wood that roof weighs a good 80s. it gets hard to lift it 8 feet over your head to tie into the fence posts
