Anyone who's done this...where is a good (inexpensive) source for the glass. I need a 4x8 foot sheet and plexi looks to start at about $130. Haven't checked glass yet, I assume it would be a little cheaper. Any ideas?

Aquayne in the Haunt forum suggested trying window/door shrink wrap over a wood frame. Lowes has it for roughly $2 for a window kit (42" x 62"), and $8 for a patio door kit. I was going to try it on the window kit to see how it works, and if it goes well then use the patio door kit.

For that pice, I could trash it and redo it every year (no storage - yeah!).

If that worked it would be great. If you try it, let me know what you think.

    Wow !!

Good find !! No doubt the cost of plexi or real glass for that matter is an issue. This shrink wrap kit? Is the material in one piece?

    Looks like 62" width.

The only thing that may be an issue is that a frame will be required. But maybe using some clear tubing would be an option.

Depending on the location of your peppers ghost. I am building on myself and plastic sounds great price wise. However, since my prop will be outside, I think the shrink wrap would wave in the wind and I wouldn't get the effect that I am looking for. If your peppers ghost will be indoors or protected, then it might be worth a try. Please let me know how it turns out.

My ghost will be outside, but with all the walls and framing needed for the effect, I think wind won't be much of an issue. The 62" is appealing because I plan to put it on my front porch which is deep enough that a 48" piece would be much more obvious. I was planning to mount the glass in a (painted black) frame anyway, so I may just give this a try. At $8 what do I have to lose?

I have done the shrink plastic for the last 5 years and I love it. This is from three years ago; http://www.youtube.com/user/indianah.../0/936DOaK8Xrc I do however set up my Peppers in the garage but after pondering the effect of a slight breeze, this might be alright. The plastic would act as a carnival mirror. If the effect was slight, it might look somewhat ethereal. Too much breeze and the reflection would disappear. It might be worth a test of the smaller window size film. 2 pieces of 1/2" conduit for the frame or even PVC. I use the patio door size which allows me about a 6' wide room. I usually buy three to get free shipping here; Amazon.com: Duck Brand 1297119 84-by-120-Inch Shrink Film Patio Door Kit: Home Improvement I use new plastic every year since it's cheap. I may try a small fan on my plastic this year just to see what might happen with different angles.
