I saw led spot lights on Ebay, they say they are 24 led's, HR16 grow spot light bulb, 110 v E27,screw base. my question is, would these work for haunt spot lights, not sure what type a HR 16 is, or what size the base is, would love any input, or suggestions, don't know much about this, so am asking those in the know! Minions web has 18 light led spots., say they have a regular type screw in base, do the ones on ebay have a regular type screw in base? thanks

E27/E26 is the standard base for all US light bulbs. 110v is also standard. I don't know what an HR-16 is...but if you do order any from Ebay, make sure they are weather safe or at least splash proof...if considering using them outside.

My webstore has 18-LED spotlight bulbs that are also similar to Minions Web's spotlight cup lights. They have a 60 degree beam angle and are very bright for their size. We just got in a new shipment of UV bulbs. If you have any question regarding my lights you can always email me at my website listed in my signiture.

Without looking at the eBay listings, I can't really tell you if those in the listing will work for your needs. But to answer one your questions; the E27 fitting is another name for the standard/medium base socket for US light bulbs.

I bought 14 of these lights. They aren't as bright as 100 watt flood lights, but I am willing to live with the lack of brightness in order to cut down on the wattage used. Here is a video I shot of the lights from ebay.Help me build LED flood lights.
and yes the screw in part is the same size as a standard light bulb.

A few of these LED light threads have been using the words "flood" and "spot" interchangeably, but this isn't the case.
As most of you know, they produce two entirely different light schemes.
For those that might be unaware, which one you'd need...here is a breakdown:

Spots have a 35-60 degree beam angle of light.
Floods have almost a full 180 degrees beam angle of light.
Spots are for more centralized lighting.
Floods are good for washing the entire scene in color.
Spot lights should be used as accent lighting, illuminating a specific spot.
Flood lights should be used as ambient lighting, flooding an entire area in specific color.

...And then there's pin lighting...which is something for another post! LOL.

I've had great success building my own lights. Using 2 wire cable and only 1 bright or regular LED with a walwart to power all of them. I had approx. 15 of these outside in the cemetary and I had to make more to change the indoor ones over from incandescent.
Always scarying the YELL out of them.

spinachetr, thank you, , for the demonstration vid, made it perfectly clear, like you said, for the small amount of power, they are worth having several!!
Eyegore, thanks you for the lesson, you are right, the lights get interchanged when they are very different, thanks for clearing that up!
darkmaster, I am not good with anything like that, would have to get hubby to do it for me !!
    thanks all for your replies!!

the amount of light really depends on the scenery you're trying to illuminate. for home haunters, often brighter is better because you want to show off your display to those passing by and you have a lot of light to compete with (street, moon, cars, your neighbors, etc...)

for pro haunts, you're often trying to darken places for your actors and scares to hide. also your audience's eyes will adjust to darker places the longer they've been in the haunt so in that case a dimmer light may work better.

generally, these colored multi LED bulb screw-in replacements don't have nearly as much light as a standard incandescent of the same size, but they also do use a lot less energy.
