    Hi All,

Can anyone out there tell me if this motor would work for a FCG rig:

Also, could it be wired directly to a AC power cord.

    Any help would be awesome.

    THANKS!!

I wouldn't use it and I really don't think it would have enough torque. Right RPM and it can be plugged into a outlet but I would be afraid of the torque.

Yup no way a motor that weighs 1/2 pound will handle a FCG. Unless it was very light and very small.

Yea, that motor is only two inches wide. Way too small for a full size FCG.

I would be more concerned about the low wattage than the actual physical size. FCGs need a LOT of torque, as madmax pointed out. Go with something with a higher rating.

    Ron,

Sometimes we try to keep stuff simple. The motor is too small and light to put out any serious torque. But when we start talking about the fact that this motor only pulls .026 amps, we can lose some people. 3 watts is nothing of course. Heck most motors use that much just in friction. Not to mention that there is no max load spec. this motor is for all intensive purposes a clock. Not designed for any kind of real load.

But you are absolutely correct. The dead give away is the low wattage. My guess is that based on 110 to 115 volt motors, .25 amps or 30 watts would be a good target for a FCG. Of course inch pounds of torque really helps for proper computation.
