I want to make a castle facade for the front of my house this year. My question is which is better, blue or pink insulation panels. Or does it matter ? Also which thickness is preferred ? I know what design that I want and how to achieve it. Just not sure what material is best. Thanks in advance.

Is it very windy where you live? Weather plays a big factor.

My understanding is that the blue and pink foam board are basically the same, just manufactured by different companies--pink is Owens Corning (their mascot is the Pink Panther--easy to remember) and the blue comes from Dow Chemical.
Now that I've said that I'm seeing blue insulation sold at Lowe's made by Dow, and I'm not seeing pink board on the Home Depot site at all!!! I hope this doesn't mean that HD has stopped carrying the insulation sheathing that they have previously. Maybe it's just being carried in the stores. If not this could affect alot of haunters this year and I haven't bought any yet! Love to hear from people, particularly in California which stopped selling it in HD and Lowe's for awhile a while ago, what they are finding in their area.
The foam that is more difficult to use is the white bead foam board which tends to break into lots of beads when cut or hit. Haunters have used it, but most agree it's more messy to work with.

Makes no never mind, in my opinion. I suggest whichever you can get cheaper.

Not sure if it matters but I've always used the pink stuff and have had no problems.

It's hard to find either over here in the UK. I think because they're no longer very good for insulation purposes here as they're too narrow - thanks to the delightful people in the EU parliament we now have to have something like 15 feet of thickness with our insulation to help prevent global warming. What a load of rubbish!
Anyway, I digress. I have used both and find very little difference between them. I think, from what I have read on other threads, it depends on where you live in the US as to what is available, but I guess you must be able to get both from your post.
I think therefore there is only one answer - get the cheapest!'Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few.’ Winston Churchill - Battle of Britain 1940.

It may depend on what's available in your region. I can't get the pink here and the blue board hasn't failed me yet! I would like to know where to get the thicker stuff. All we have is the 1/2 inch and if you have to glue several pieces together then it can get pretty expensive.

I've been wanting to do a facade for the house but this is all I have done before. I used the 1/2 pink foam with a plywood backing...

I used it as the entrance to my backyard.

not the best pictures in the world. We dont need a body bag, we need a bucket.............and a strainer.
