I really want to do up a nice display this Halloween, as I'll finally have a house and not an apt. I know I want to go along the lines of sleepy hallow (think corn stalks, scarecrows, pumpkins, orange lights, etc) and I want fog! The only problem is I don't have the tools or materials (not good at making things with my hands ... i'm a music producer) that I've seen in many tutorials to make a fog chiller for ground cover. If anyone is close to my area (Richmond, VA) and would be willing to make a fog chiller for me I'd certainly pay for your services. Thanks everyone!

fog chillers are easy! take a cooler, get a fog machine. cut a hole on each side of the cooler. take some black abs piping from home depot search it on google so you know what it looks like or any other black outdoor piping and put one end on the fog machine and run it through the first hole. then run it al the way through the cooler and out the other end. heres my trick put a bunch of small holes in the piping inside the cooler and dump ice on top. make sure the cooler is always cold cause hot air rises!

this is very simple and if need be ill draw you a diagram

how do you cut a hole in a plastic cooler? I don't have any tools (other than your household screw drivers). i've got two fog machines that I got from target. they've always just shot random fog in the air (not what I want).

none of my friends are the handy types. we can decorate a scene up nicely ... but handy work, such as this, is not our speciality lol I don't think any of my aunts have any sort of power tools or saws either. I'll have to see what I can find. I don't want to spend too much money, which is why I was hoping to find someone to build one (just pay and be done lol)

Just use a hole saw it connects to a drill and you can drill the 2 holes out in under 1 min.

If you really don't have any tools, just buy a styrofoam cooler and razor blade the holes out.

thanks for the advice on styrofoam, didn't think about that (duh!).
really have no tools, don't do any sort of work that requires them and not a handy man at all.

I got a styrofoam cooler and make a simple one last year...it worked fine. You don't need a real heavy-duty cooler. A big styrofoam cooler, some PVC tubing and duct tape is enough.

Fog in one side of the cooler - through the ice - out the other side. It'll work and be better than what you have.

awesome! thanks for the advice everyone. I'm just getting started, so I'm sure I'll have more questions about things and hopefully over the years can learn more and get more technical.

Disposable styrofoam cooler at wal-mart for under $2. I used flexible dryer to vent hose. It was the most expensive item at about $9. I has some silicone caulk leftover from a repair on an outdoor receptacle and used that to form a seal for the dryer vent hose. Since the cooler was white, I just put it in a dark trash bag to hide it better. I also took some leftover plywood from a previous project and cut out a piece the same size as the fog machine and painted it black to set the fog machine on. I didn't want the machine laying in the wet grass. Besides, it gave me the opportunity to use up some leftover plywood and use my power tools. It is a very simple and basic fog chiller.
