Wow...that's a pretty nice effect. I think it could be fairly easy to replicate.

It's not "steam". It's more like a fog machine with lighting.

Could probably also be done with a projector and fog or misting nozzles.

i doubt it's using any type of fog juice --- if this was in a closed environment like a casino (which one of them is installed), it would fill the whole place with fog. I think it's gotta be water based.

anyone up to the challenge of building one?

I would assume it is the ionized water such as the punch bowl foggers utilized.

Interesting.... Your link says "No chemicals or smoke fluid required". But the one I found (and linked to) uses a "haze fluid". Maybe these are different methods to the same effect.

that is possible, but they need a fan to blow the fog upwards, otherwise it would fall back to the ground like the effect you see in those punch bowl mistifiers. i think if it really WERE steam, it would naturally rise without any problems. if you control the temperature right, it won't burn you either.

In one of the similar videos over on the right, someone tried doing the same thing with steam and lights. They got pretty close, after several tests, but still have a ways to go.

I have a steam cleaner. I will try some tests. Like take a pvc pipe and drill some random holes for steam to escape from. The lighting is what I am not sure of. As far as the temp. I have used this steam cleaner for some time. Steam under pressure cools off very fast it seems. Give me about a week.
