Much better with the picture. I would use black landscaping fabric to create a jagged gap that starts at the road where your hill meets the flatter part of the yard (kinda where the mailbox on the right blocks the view of the lawn) and then lightening bolt it back towards the house. Plenty of fog and lighting and the use of half torsos and demons should give you the desired effect. Any problems with theft in your area? Some of your props are gonna be far from the house.
I like the fabric idea I didn't have a problem with theft last year but I did not have time-invested props other than headstones, 8 ft columns and a gate...hard to walk off with. either I will securely bolt the props' bases to a frame or just move them to the back yard (nothing but woods and my friendly but nosey neighbors who would chase anyone away).
Could you do some big artificial flame displays towards the back (fans with strips of white fabric attached illuminated by big flood lights) as a high impact background? That way, you could build more normal sized props heading toward the road without having to make anything super gigantic for the perspective issue? Put something big and eye catching near the front and use lots of light to sell the hell theme.
