    Hi all,

I have a stack of extra wood this year. All different sizes but, mostly 2x6 and 2x2. About 30 pieces total. Any suggestions? I was originally going to make a witches hut but, finances fell through and can't get the props xtra thatch/roof together to make it.

    regards,

Try selling the wood or make something cheap like a hangman gallows, try to still make the witch's hut but substitute it for other materials. Don't know if those suggestions hurt or helped you!

It's a good suggestion but, the lumber is scrap I got from neighbors dumpsters when they were redoing their deck and ripping out wood ceilings. So woudn't be worth anything. I can't do the witches hut because, I have to witches or paraphenalia for witches. Bottles, cauldrons, etc. ets. I like the gallows idea though.

How long are the average pieces?
I built the hearse in my avatar out of mostly scrap lumber from construction sites. My biggest expense was the wheels and the decorative molding(1/4 round) that trims everything out.

There is a larger pic of the hearse in my pic albums. The one for "older stuff".

Build an electric chair? Short graveyard border fence? Build a frame to use as the base for standing props?

Got the fence, already did the electric chair a few years back, already have a toe pincher. Don't think I need any bases. Beginning to see my prob.? lol Would love to do the hearse but, no place to store it when I'm done. Also the wheels, curtains, detail wood would cost too much for my budget right now. Just blew $3000 on a transmission rebuild so I'm really short on extra money to put into props. Great ideas though.

Hallow Growler! We are building a witches hut/cottage this year too! Using all pallet wood and scrap so very little expense. Could you find a bunch of free pallets and use the pieces you have to make the frame of the hut - then use the pallet wood for "siding?". That's my plan. I am trying to spend no more than $20. on the entire project! Maybe we could challenge each other to see who can make a witches hut for the least amount of $$!! BOO

    Hi Hallow,

Great idea you have for the hut. I was going to use this wood side by side and then use the small pieces to run the length to make wall supports to hold the wood together. Then buy an unbrella off epay and then get a thatch umbrella cover and put the two together for the roof. I would still like to do it but, might not until next year. I don't have any witch items so even if I built one, I have nothing for the inside.
I have an easement next to our house and the main road. Another thought I had was to make a hut built into the side of the hill like a "hobit" home. I would use the wood and then top it with sawd. (sp) I would have a light on a timer that would light up during the night and small round windows. I would put a back drop up against the window like there was someone standing in the window but, you couldn't see into the hut. That way I wouldn't have to decorate it or worry about someone steeling props out of it at night. Thought this would be a great cheap way to go to lead up to Halloween.
I think I might go with the MIB. I've always wanted one. Though I have the MIB coffin.
