I've see one online, it seems to be the same one everywhere:

Amazon.com: Beating Heart Prop: Home & Garden

I was going to get it, but I thought I would ask the experts:

    1. Does this one work? How well does it work?

    2. Is there a better alternative?

    Anyone?

I have one. Not sure what you are trying to ascertain with the questions. I think it depends on what you are planning on doing with it.

It's a pretty simple prop. You put batteries in, turn on the switch and it beats. I got mine as a mark-down and the only problem I have is that the battery case opens at the slightest touch and the switch is also very position-sensitive. But I usually tape props like this anyway, so it's not a problem for me.

Thanks Debb. I just want to know if it beats. I'm going to put it in a jar - no liquid - and I want it to look good and obviously be beating in there.

I thought there must be someone who could tell me if it worked, since I could find no reviews. It also occurred to me that there may be a more realistic looking one that works out there.

I think osenator picked up one of these in a big free haul. Not sure how old it was but I think it beat a little but nothing too dramatic. You may want to check with him.
When storage is a concearn, put your monster props under the kids beds.
