I have JPGs of the Haunted Mansion stretching portraits. I thought that, instead of answering individual email requests, since this is a recurring theme here, that I would try to share them as torrents. I figure that way, with peer-to-peer file sharing, more people could get the pictures without having to wait for a response. And when someone next asks for the pictures, anybody can send them the torrent link. It seemed more efficient, especially for those who get lots of "me, too" requests. We can all share and spread the love (and the alligators and the quicksand).
I don't know how to do the torrent thing. I am not tech-savvy. Anyone want to help?
I have UTorrent, and I clicked on the Create Torrent button. It took forever to figure it out, but now I have a torrent. I clicked "add torrent" to the download/upload window, and added http://open.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce in the tracker section, but when I search on Pirate Bay, I can't find HMpix, the torrent/file/whatever it's called.
So, what do I do to share these pictures with people?

I know very little about this, but I think that you can just share a link to the torrent file. Maybe you could upload whatever.torrent here and let people download it. That would then fire up a user's torrent client and the sharing would begin.
How big are the files? Could you accomplish the same thing by using http://www.4shared.com/?
Oh and THANKS for sharing these!

The problem is that saying "just upload it" doesn't tell me HOW to upload it. I tried following the directions here: http://torrentfreak.com/how-to-create-a-torrent/ but somehow I did something wrong.
If I were able to upload a torrent here, would it even work, I wonder? That would be the best, if it could be done.
Regarding 4shared, I think I have an account there, that I created when I wanted to download something a few years ago, but I forget everything. I think I found it too complicated, or took too long or something. I forget. Maybe I should try again. Good idea, thanks.

I just tried 4shared. I simply do not understand how to upload anything. The folder I created is empty. I finally got the jpgs uploaded, I think, but they are not in the HMpix folder, so I deleted it.
It took me FIVE YEARS to figure out how to call on my cell phone, and I still get confused. I could not figure out that I needed to press SEND for the call to go through. This is more complicated. I think this is where the pictures are.

I was able to get them from 4shared. THANKS!
As I understand torrents, the ".torrent" file itself is very small. It's like just a text file that is a pointer to where the files reside. You shouldn't need to upload the image files to anything since it's your computer that's hosting them (and then others once they're shared).
I've never created my own torrent, so I could be off... but this is my understanding of how they work.

I've never uploaded a torrent myself, but because it is "peer" to "peer", I believe what happens is you are going to leave a torrent client open with the file that is to be shared and someone has to download it DIRECTLY from you and then they can leave their client open and also share so now two people have the file and so forth. This is why it is harder to shutdown peer to peer because there is no central server! I'm downloading the files from 4share and I'll try to see if I can get something going as well because I've been looking high and low for these! Thanks, diajoh!
