This is a picture of a lifesize Gremlin I made for our Halloween display two years ago. This is the first fullsized creature I made for our display.

That looks great! I take it you sculpted, molded, and cast, and painted it? What materials did you use?

It's a vinyl recast kit of an old Japanese kit that's sold by a couple of places in Hong Kong. They cost about $90 or so dollars on ebay. I filled the inside spaces with expanding insulation foam, which makes him a lot sturdier and rugged.

What really sets him off was instead of painting the eyes like most people do, I cut the eyes out and put show-grade glass fox glass eyes that I got from a taxidermist in. They really make him look like he's alive.

I painted him with some thinned paint made for RC racing cars, which worked really well. There was enough color in the paint to provide the lighter green, but the paint has heavier pigments that sagged down in between the scales of his skin, so it shows a lot of detail without having to drybrush.

The rest of the highlights were airbrushed on, except for the stripes on the ears that I painted on with a brush.

That's an impressive prop! My wife's aunt was a puppeteer for Gremlins and owned several of the real movie evil gremlins. I dare say yours looks as authentic as her's, probably more so now that the props are 20+ years old.
    Undead and loving it!

Thanks! We were going to do more of the Gremlins from Gremlins II, but have been distracted by making other fullsized creatures. The nice thing about the gremlins is it's about impossible to screw them up since they all have unique coloring. Whatever looks cool will work.

Now that I've figured out how to make realistic wings, we're thinking about making the bat gremlin from Gremlins 2 this yer.

Thanks again for the gremlin pic. What size glass eyes did you get to fit the size of the model? Did you buy them online or locally?
