I finally got the joystick out and played around with recording events in VSA 5. Using a joystick to record jaw movement in VSA may not work very well since it looks like I won't be able to use the trigger as I did in TrackSkull. VSA will let you record on the left&right axis, the forward&back axis, the twist axis (on an Extreme 3D Joystick) and the throttle axis. It appears to only recognize joystick buttons for the purpose of "activating" a particular axis during recording.

I tried to figure out some way to use the Logitech software to map the throttle to the trigger but it looks like either it can't be done or I'm not smart enough to figure it out.

If I can't get the throttle mapped to the trigger, it looks like I'll probably use TrackSkull for jaw movement in those instances where VSA's "wave motion analysis" doesn't work so well because of noise or music on the soundtrack with the voice.

I remember when I was programming Jaw movement in VSA I would have to press the trigger and move my joystick to the left in order to have Jaw movement. I still have version 4 and don't remember seeing anything where you could assign the buttons. Can you assign the buttons in Version 5 particular to the trigger button?

Is VSA 5.0 really worth getting for us?
I just got 4.o about a month ago and I now see that V5 is out. They compair 5.0 's different versions side by side, but they don't show what the advantages of upgrading to 5.0 from 4.0... any comments?

The biggest advantage for me is that the "ultimate" version has 256 channels. The 128 channel limit in version 4 was going to be a real headache this year with all of the lights and stuff we run I do like the "recording" feature in VSA and can record a 3 axis skull movement on the fly without having to do copy settings into TrackSkull for each axis and then export to file and import into VSA. I just wish there was a way I could use the joystick trigger to create jaw movement events.

    Sadler Vampire,

I'm in the same boat. Doesn't the recent 4.xxx version already have some of the features only included in the Pro version and up? Like the video playing capability. I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure I saw it in there.
