Okay, so I've finally managed to make some progress with props for Halloween this year. I'm trying to not get in over my head like I've been doing for the past couple of years, so I have only one big project for 2011: a singing/talking skull. I went ahead and ordered the unassembled skull kit from Cowlacious Designs. I finally got it and put it together. I've even edited some audio on about 3 songs for it to sing. They are: 1) Thriller 2) Ghostbusters and 3) Monster Mash. I've even downloaded a few "talking/laughing" clips from this website: http://www.hedstorm.net/HAUNT/SoundE...TES/index.html

But, I still don't have nearly enough. I don't want to repeat the same stuff over and over and over and over and over... well you get the point... It would drive me and the rest of the neighbors insane. I can always edit some more audio for a few more songs (which I plan to do), but I was wondering if you guys knew of any more free "talking" clips that would work well for a talking/singing skull? Any links would be helpful, and I'm not picky.

    Thanks in advance!

How does the skull look in person from Cowlacious Designs? The picture on their website does not look very good. I am hoping that it is just a distorted pic. Can you post a pic? Thx

I'll do you one better than that. I've had a couple of people ask me for a video/pic so I went ahead and made a vid. The only problem is that I uploaded it to YouTube, but now I have no idea how to put it in a post. Anyone else know how?

Ha! I figured it out! Yay me! Anyway, I wanted to apologize about the excess movement in the video. I haven't found a mount for the skull yet, so I had to hold it up for the entire video. My hand is still mad at me. I hope you guys enjoy!

And thanks for the link halloween71. It's already been added to my favorites list. I plan on looking through it more thoroughly.

    A little critique.

You need more mouth movement. Singing is always harder than just talking, but depending on which servo you use, you should be able to program in some more movement. You may want to reduce the amount of mouth movement on the shorter words. Hold the big open mouth for the longer notes. You also may want to adjust your linkage. If the servo is strong enough, you can use a longer arm. This will get you more movement for less rotation on the servo. And that gives you quicker response. Another trick is to make sure the springs barely hold the jaw closed. That way the servo is just overcoming momentum and not fighting either weight or spring tension.

Here is a video of my 3 Axis. Notice the mouth movement. Even when he says trick or treaters huh? The lighting is not the best, but you should be able to see what I mean.

I hope you are using VSA. That is the best for this process.
