Hey, i'm building my first Pneumatic prop, and I need an air compressor. Does anyone know of a good air compressor? Could you give me a link or some information on it? Thanks

This topic comes up every so often, and one of the times I wrote down the specs that most could agree upon: 3-5HP, 20gal,100+psi. I hope this helps.

That sounds about right, I bought the porter cable from home depot, and it won't even work well with a webcaster gun, you want VOLUME! The small compressors are nice and compact, but for most uses, tools, or props, volume is huge. Its not that they don't have enough pressure, they are just running all the time, and you have to wait for them to recycle. My friend got a great one off of craigslist.com .

I think what you have to look first to is the CFM rating of the compressor. I think that stands for cubic feet per minute. The higher the CFM the faster the tank will fill. The best CFM for the money I've found are compressors at Harbor Freight Tools. I fell into the trap of a compressor with a big storage tank but lower CFM. I took it back because even though it had a big tank, the compressor after a few minutes would run constantly because it couldn't keep up with the demand. The compressor I got from Harbor Freight was the same price and worked way better.

Totally agree, all I know is that the cute little pancake compressors like mine are great for nail guns and that's about it, the cfm combined with a larger tank size will git r done, just don't fall for the smaller ones if your using a serious amount of air.

ok, thanks everyone. I appreciate your comments, and I look forward to purchasing a compressor. Are there any specific compressors that are especially good for running props.
Creepy.

I had gotten one from sears last week 100 psi, but I have to return it b/c its not even strong enough for my airbrush.
