I decided to pull these into their own thread, and leave the other one to more the complete yard. I'm planning on several different ones, but one at a time and see where we get, eh?

As mentioned, I was completely unhappy with my scarecrows as being too ordinary, and this is my solution.

Chimera: a grotesque product of the imagination

(sorry for those expecting lion/goat/snake thingies)

The head is by no means complete, and was just set there to give the idea where we're heading.

The main shape, already look scary, even before you've started to fleshed it out.
    Nice job

I like it!!! I would have to be really careful building something like that here in Idaho, We might end up with baby Chimera's ( the moose here aren't very picky) LOL

Got a little time late last night, and did a little MM. While going along, I've come up with a whole different idea on how I want the chest cavity, so it'll be changing a bit. Planning some more tonight.

Once I get the MM done and the thing painted, I'm going to use rope lashings at the 'joints'. All leftover yard crap from last year...

I haven't fully decided how I want the "up" arm to look just yet. Original idea was to have it holding a lantern, and I still like that idea, but I want that arm DIFFERENT than the other 3. Might just lash together some of that reed grass from last year into a rough shape...

You might notice this thing was right in front of my car. Had a "what the heck is THAT?" moment when I was unloading some things after dark last night. Hit the lock button, headlights flash, and it's starting to look like a THING more than just a frame now.

As I said, we are moving in a different direction for the chest area...

Yeah...they're real. Yeah, I'm going there.

Slow going, as the way they overlap, I need to let them dry completely. Will have 4 on each side.

We also wired the bad boy tonight. Initiating a "whoa!" from a neighborhood 10 year old, and a couple "looking good" from adults.
