Hey, gang. I have a motor lying around but no power supply. I'm wondering if anyone knows what i'd need to power this.

I salvaged it from a building that housed an A.T.M. It was used to roll the A.T.M. for service.
Thanks!

Industrial motor –

That is an industrial motor.
90 volts provides 5 rpm. So you can imagine how slow it would be running on 12 volts.
Sometimes free is good. But I think obtaining a power supply to run that motor may cost you more than just getting a 12 volt gear motor. of equal power.
Just curious. What do you intend on doing with this motor?

Thanks, Spinman. I didn't really have any plans for it. I usually snap up stuff like that. Maybe i'll just sell it on craigslist.

The motor itself is a fairly high ticket item. That motor is rated at 383 inch pounds. Or 31 ft pounds. To relate that to force. It means that the motor can lift 383 lbs using a one inch lever/gear with no reduction. 5 rpm would result in a dead lift of 383 lbs at 5 inches per minute. So it is likely perfect for what it was used for. Namely to slowly move a heavy ATM. Of course since the unit is likely on rollers, the actual weight of the ATM may indeed be even more than 383 lbs and the motor may be geared up to move the ATM faster than 5 inches per minute.
So the motor is indeed powerful. For the right application it would be perfect. The 90 volt DC requirement does offer some challenge. Although 7 12 volt batteries could be wired in series to provide the needed power. I found a site that sells power supplies. $275 is a price I found for a supply that could power that motor.
But a person can pick up a winch from harbor freight that is more powerful and will run on 12 volts, for under $50
Good luck with selling the motor. Someone will have a use for it. Maybe check Ebay for comparisons.
