Hello folks, this is my first thread and i wish to share after years of borrowing from the internet and halloween enthusiasts like yourselves.

this is an easy static prop that achieves a frightening finish.

*note i saw this on the internet years ago and do not wish to take credit for the idea. i have only re-created it

    materials:
    - foam craft ball (you can find @ any craft store, usually $25... ouch. but i know someone will have an idea to do this another way ie. news paper ball&paper mache... i just happen to always get 40-50% off cupons for that store and rather like the perfect sphere look on the spider)
    - wooden dowel (hardware store - large enough to fit a coat hanger after drilling a hole in the end)
    - metal coat hanger (closet )
    - cheap plastic fangs (dollar store)
    - paper mache
    - paint

    tools:
    - wire snips
    - drill w/ small bit
    - hot glue gun

    directions:

    legs

    - cut the wooden dowels to which ever size you wish, remembering that not all spider leg segments are the same size. but do cut them each segment 6 at a time so that they all match! (6 legs, remember..) i cut mine shortest to longest starting from the body outwards.
    - drill small holes in the end of each dowel, just large enough that a cut piece of metal coat hanger will fit inside. use hot glue gun to attach the 3 different sized segments to make a leg. repeat 6 times, creating identical legs.
    - now here’s the really technical part, jam the ends of the legs into the body of the spider (foam craft ball), pull them out, add hot glue and re-attach

    mouth

    - cut plastic fangs in half at the hinges
    - hot glue them onto the front of the spider, separating them an inch or two. you will revisit this area with paper mache and fill in the gap, forming the mouth of the spider

    paper mache

    - now cover this bad boy up! fill in the gaps around the mouth, you can cover up the legs if you wish, or just add to the joints once you bend him into the shape you wish.

    paint

    - go nuts, i used rust paint. it’s cheap and durable. this guy has been through 2 seasons and he looks as good as the day he was born.

below is a close up of my friend and a couple shots of him in action. let me know if you're going to give this a shot or have any ideas to improve.

    thanks for reading and enjoy!

Welcome!!! Cool looking, reminds me of a cross between the Alien head & that part in the Thing when the guys head comes off & starts crawling around. I like the eyeless lifeless thing.
