I would like to build this. I have all of the parts except for the motors that control the arms. Ive been trying to build this as cheaply as possible for proof of (ok I can do this, time to improve it). The motors are the retractable seat belt motors (left and right). Problem is (I dont have a clue where a junk yard is around me to go pull them myself) and all the ones on ebay (trying to get a matched set for equal range of motion) they want 50 bucks each for them, with 30 - 40 of it going to shipping. Crazy to me at least.
Can any of you think of something or somethings I can pillage these from to get the desired results?

a wiper motor would give the same effect as that. plenty of torque which is used in the video and inexpensive? any sort of rotary motor with alot of torque is what you need.

no problem and those my friend are usually a dime a dozen at a junk yard so you should have no problem scarpiing some and if you cant 14 bucks for each one beats 50. let me know how things turn out.

Yes a wiper motor will work, but you will have to find a way to reverse the direction. If you notice it reverses after a certain distance.
Maybe you can put that zombie on a leach or you will be chasing it down the street.

There have been how-to threads by at least a couple of people on here for something like that. I will see if I can find them and post links.

Thank you. I never thought to see if the guy was a member here. That link is where I got my parts list from.
as mentioned earlier about controlling it, I have the Traxxas (sp) servos with reverse that will let me control that. After throwing my back out last year crawling across the yard and dragging myself through the grass chasing the trick or treaters I decided this is a MUCH healthier way to go. lol
So far I have enough parts to build three of them (score up the Vex controllers/recievers on ebay for under 30 bucks each shipped when they sell on VEX site for 129 each) Just gotta get my motors gathered up and I will be in business.
Thanks for all the input guys and if you think of anything else Im certainly not opposed to hearing/learning from it.I dont hate zombies, I just love killin em.
