WE are having a christmas room...
At Transworld there was a christmas tree prop that opened up..
I am going to make one and have someone inside, but my issue is finding green christmas garland. The tinsel kind thats just a rope of garland.
My frame work for the tree is metal rod that is hinged at the bottom. it will them open in half. This room I think will have a santa in red long johns sprawled out on the floor like he is trying to crawl away from the tree.
Inside the tree will be someone dressed in Santas suit but with a green face like the Grinch.
I just have to find green garland. My tree will be around 6 1/2 to 7 ft tall and about 3.5 - 4 ft diameter. Thats gonna take a lot of garland to cover it. Any suggestions on what I could use to make it look like a chrstmas tree but not be too terribly expensive?

Just had a thought.... I wonder how green turf like carpet would look?
Then just glue on plastic ornaments ...
Any other ideas out there from all you brilliant halloween enthusiasts?

Bummer. We just threw out a lot of heavy duty garland at work last year. It had a wire in it so it you could mold it into just about any shape and it would hold that shape and stand up. It was fairly expensive stuff but needed a bath because it was so dusty. I knew I should have offered it to someone on here.
I would suggest doing what whoever got our stuff did - check the curbs and alleys. I have seen a lot of fake trees thrown away over the years. You could take a bunch of the branches and attach them to a frame you make that has the doors.

Bummer is right! Well I'm thinking that I may just have to go with the lawn turf stuff. Not ideal but I have almost 0 for a budget now... cheap is my only option.
I thought about using branches from an old christmas tree but I wont have much to attach anything to. There will only be about 6 metal rods coming up from the bottom to the point of the tree. That would work well for the upper part but the bottom would be really sparce.
Well see... I have an old tree in my basement that I can sacrifice if needed
