I would like to work with liquid latex as described in corpsing, or to make eyeball props, ect. Our local home improvement store knew nothing that sounded right. Where do you buy latex? Brand names? $$? Can it be colored or just painted? Any help would be great-

Monster Makers .com is one popular source. I currently use Burman in L. A. as my supplier. There are some other good ones out there. You'll probably have to have it shipped to MN?
I'd Start with a gallon of Slip Casting latex, ( somtimes called slush latex). Runs any where from $45 - 55 /gallon. It goes pretty far for what your describing.

I bought mine off E-bay. There are people that buy the 55gals or similiar, and pour it into and sell 1 gallon jugs.
I found it cheaper from E-bay.

Same here. I get mine by the gallon which lasts quite a while in how I work with it.
It can be colored with the cheapest tube of artists acrylic paint you can find about 1 to 3 ratio. To get deeper tones you will want to layer it.
You will also want to seal it to keep it from remaining sticky. For that I put a final pigment coat mixed 1 part pigment/latex to 4 parts artists gloss or matte medium.
I brush my latex into various materials to build them up, and simple cool soapy water works well for that. Edit: For cleaning brushes!
What doesn't kill you can still make you walk funny.

I got lucky & found a place locally to me in San Francisco, Douglas & Sturgess, that is pretty much an art mold & cast supply co. Great prices, Think I payed $20-22 for a gal of molding / slush latex.
Here's the link for anyone in the SF bay area, http://www.douglasandsturgess.com/mm5/merchant.mvcWhen you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........
