I bought a ton of gas masks. They are made of plastic or rubbery. I painted them and love the look of them but the paint keeps flaking off. I added a sealant made of glue and water. It held it a bit more but then flaked again.
What do you put over paint to prevent it from chipping of painting on plastic /rubber?
    HELP
    Thanks
    Erin

Are they the clear type or another solid color? If they are clear, the best thing to do is VERY lightly spray the inside a color of choice. If they are solid colors, coat the outside with a rubber based paint. Like black auto undercoating. It is spray-able rubber in a can! then sponge the highlight colors of choice over that! Hope this helps ya a lil bit!

oh, well they are most likely flexible and no can spray paint will hold unless it is chemically bonded to the masks. The only thing I can advise is search an epoxy rubber paints usually for pools and spas. This is the only paint I know that is rubber like and comes in a variety of colors. It is a bit costly though so search around for the best deals. Best of luck Erin!

Oh another thing is you must pre-prep the surface of the mask prior to painting them. You can sand them with 280 grit sandpaper for the best adhesion with very little abrasions showing through finishing paint. My buddy has a paint & body shop and so he taught me a lil bit about paints.
