Thread: Monster in the Box idea

Had an interesting thought on a variation of the Monster in the Box.

One thing I've seen a lot is to have the box open up and a monster mask pop out. This is great and it gets people, but...

I wonder how effective it would be if the box had a series of random growls and slight movement. Signs on the box would warn people to stay back and not tease the monster. Then, if anyone got near it, the monster would get "agitated" and start shaking the box and making more noise. And it would partially "break out" - one of the slats on the top would hinge up, enough to have a monster hand come out (implying it's trying to grab the person who got too close).

The action would be similar to one of those coin banks where a hand comes out and grabs the coin and pulls it in, like this:

But in this case, the hand would come out, feel around, and then pull back inside. And then the monster would quiet down.

well i think its a good idea you have to draw something up on paper and maybe when the slats come up it made a big board breaking sound that would scare the crap out of them .... but i would keep out the pre-growls so you could get a better startle get them right when they start to walk by ....like box shake ...growl and bam!!! scared with the hand!!!!!!!

The Jurassic Park sounds kind of kill the scare a lil for me though.

Sounds like a good idea to me!
I thought about making a mini one for my mailbox...
with a "postal worker's hand" popping out screaming for help.
It would be more humorous but just as entertaining!
