Hey all,
I'm in the process of making my first set of columns and purchased lamps for the top, but am at a loss as to how I should mount the lamps.
Here's what they look like:
The lamp is designed to be used on a lamp post, but I really liked the look and overlooked the fact that I'd need to mount in to something to secure it.
I thought that I might be able to use L brackets since there are 4 screws in the base, but wanted to see if anyone had a better idea.

i would make a pvc cross structure where one goes up into the lamp and you can screw threw the pvc and it also can connect to the inside structure of your column

If you have a hole saw kit, you could cut yourself a cylinder out of a 2x4. Fasten that to the top of your column, and then you could slide the light's collar over the wood and screw the light fixture into that. You could drill a hole through the middle of the cylinder to feed your wiring through. As long as you pre-drill everything, you shouldn't have any issues with it splitting.

I know they make the a piece that allows you to attach your lamp to the top of a column. I have done the exact same thing. check Homedepot.

I used the pre-made mount that was listed above and it works Great! I suggest using that piece.
