I am wanting to create a little girl, in a straitjacket, rocking back and forth. She will be sitting on the ground. Does anyone know how to do this?

A motor with a cam perhaps? The cam arm would push her up/forward and make her rock. If she had a rounded bottom, like those inflatable punching things that couldn't fall over.

I can think of two easy ways to do this prop. One way is with a shiatsu and a smock and you can change the motion by adjusting the way you attack the straps to the shiatsu to get more of a back and forth movement.

Another simple way to get the movement you want is with a deer motor. The deer motor will reverse its direction if something stops it from going around. So it wouldn't be hard to connect a deer motor to a PVC frame and get the rocking motion. I used one in the little girl below. It's hard to tell from the picture but her head and shoulders are doing a up and down movement because she's eating the guts laying on the floor. If mounted a little lower you would get the whole body rocking.

The pictures are old and with a cheap camera so they're not very clear and I no longer have the props to show you how motor is connected. But I will be building some props with in the next couple weeks and can rig up a PVC frame with both motors to give you a better ideal....if you think it would help.

Yes, any step by step would be helpful. I've only ever built static props and I am venturing into mechanical.
