Rookie question here (sorry) but I'm wanting to start on these sconces, and can't seem to find this latex. Anyone know where to get it from? Thanks so much for the help!

I have used latex that I bought at Hobby Lobby and Michael's used for making molds. I think they sell it in pints. There are other options that people use like carpet latex(never tried myself) and you can find all kinds of sources online. I now purchase my latex by the gallon and get it from different suppliers online depending on my need at the time.

Also you can try using construction adhesive to give a "skin" to your creation such as Liquid Nails. I have used it in the past and it is very durable.

something else you can try that is nearly fullproof and cheap as well.

make your frame as they describe, build up your areas like the arms and wrist, fingers, etc. until they are where you want them. Go to wallymart or anyplace that sells exterior latex house paint, get it tinted to the base coat you want *assuming you want to paint details on it* get some old t-shirts (color of shirt really doesnt seem to matter since the paint changes the color anyhow but I generally use white or lighter browns) cut smaller sections that will wrap around the fingers and hand section and you can precut the piece for the forearm as well. when finished soak the in the paint (completely soaked but dont have to be dripping) wrap the fabric over the prop and dry it with a hairdryer to keep it where you want it, you can put in sluffing details as well and the seams seem to blend in too. When finished it looks like rotten skin. I use it for my bucky skulls when I want certain facial details etc. in them.

Here is an example of what the "skin" will look like

dries fast AND its essentially waterproof.

Once all your materials are laid out, it literally only takes a few minutes. That skull in the picture only took 3minutes and 47 seconds (had to time them since I need to make 30 of them so I can plan and get them all completed) Getting the paint tinted for your basecolor is a MAJOR money saver too. Lots of times I hit up the "accident" aisle for the paint that didnt mix right on colors.
