I'm not sure where to post this but since it has to do with a prop, I'll do it here.
I was in my local Michaels today looking for some suitable modeling clay to change the features on a vinyl baby doll's head. The clay I was looking at needs to be baked at 275 degrees for 15 minutes and I was concerned about melting the vinyl head if I put it in the oven and attempted to explain what I was doing to the clerk. About this time another customer walked up behind the clerk, wanting to ask a question. The clerk thought for a moment, and then said, just loud enough for the other customer to hear " Explain it again, why do you want to put the baby's head in the oven?"

A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

I went into Home Depot last year to buy some natural fiber rope and the clerk asked me what I was making. I told I was making a hangman's noose. He gave me a concerned look for a few seconds before I explained it was for a prop. Turns out, you really can tie a working knot, although mine had less than the total number of loops.

I'm not exactly sure of what you were/are attempting to do but my wife does make dolls (non-halloween unfortunately
)for sale and sometimes needs to bake the heads in the oven to set the paint. If the head is backed at 275 degrees it should not melt, however the vinyl will become extremely soft and pliable. So is you are trying to use the head as a positive mold I would not suggest it, as almost any weight on the head will probably collapse it. As far as making facial features I think she uses "Sculpy".
I know you weren't really looking for advice in this thread but thought I might impart some inside knowledge.
Have fun baking babies :P
