Just got a couple of metal 55 gallon drums today. What is the easiest, most efficient, and safe way to cut the tops off? I'm trying to get the edges as smooth as possible.

using a sawzall then going back over it to smooth it out with a grinder. if you want to make it look perfect again you can then paint over the skuffed metal cutting parts when your done.

If the drums were used to hold any flammable liquids make sure they are thoroughly cleaned before attempting to do anything that will cause sparks.
