What would one use to color latex before applying? Latex colorants are nice from places like "monster Makers", but there is a $25.00 minimum you have to purchase. Does anyone know other websites for latex colorants?

I build dang most EVERYTHING in latex. The best cheapest colorant is plain old cheapest tube of artists acrylic paint. You have to thin it down and mix into the latex... I've got lot's of bottles of various colors. But also too you may have to layer a few coats to get the richness you want given that the latex is somewhat transparent.

Just a dab will do you about 1/3 paint to latex.

i use the cheap .89 cent bottles from Michael's , i think its 1 or 2oz, they have hundreds of colors , i used 1/4 bottle Americana flesh tone , per cup of latex for this prop it took only one cup of latex to make it,i just eye it out the paint and stir it together till i get the color i want ,it works great for me, for the detail work just paint the latex after it drys, it doent come off

Yeah that's what I do. Just take whatever color you want and just apply it to the latex! I agree with you abt Monster makers also. Great place but 25 dolar min is sometimes too much! Plus the cost of shipping can kill ya too!

West Marine has little tubes of concentrated colorant for epoxy, wonder if that would work with latex.

Other than West Marine products being expensive, very familiar with west marine, they are pigments specially for epoxy / fiberglass repairs & may not work with latex......

You.d be better off at an art store like Micheal's with small airbrush type paint ( the on sale cheapy stuff ) or pigment colorants.

The Michaels .60 bottles of acrylic craft paint work fine (as stated above).

Thin with a lil water, mix into the latex. Thin that mix ( if desired) with a little straight Ammonia. Works for me!
