Ok so for a few year now I have had this idea for a table top center piece and or candy bowl but it requires a realistic ( but not real) razor blade. I want to have it partially embedded in an "apple" in the center of the dish. Problem is... finding or making a replica razor blade that looks real.

    any Ideas?
what do you see..... alone in the dark, when the demons come?

Use a real razor blade. Embed the sharp side into the fake apple so nobody can cut themselves on it, but dull the side that's sticking out.

    Easy peasy.

If you use a real razor blade I would suggest you get some metallic tape, and very carefully cover the dull side of the razor with it, making sure there are no creases or bubbles. The "dull" side of a razor blade can still be very sharp and especially if people are reaching past it they could easily cut themselves. The metallic tape might scratch someone but would provide enough padding to ensure no one bleeds.

    Here's what i would do.
First I'd start with a razor with the reinforced back.

And just use your dremel to carefully knock off the sharp edge (sanding disk, grinding wheel etc)

Btw, other than this style of razor blade, I've never come across a razor blade with a dull side.
Usually both sides are sharp, so the razor can be flipped around and used twice.

This is just a thought.....Take a plastic lid (Cool Whip?) Trace the outline of a real razor blade with a sharpie or something then cut it out with an x-acto knife.

Paint it silver and there you go! Very safe and a bit flexible for extra safety.

You could even drip some theater blood on it and dry it out with a hairdryer to look nastier/more realistic.

I made a mobile for a baby zombie once using these but I used the shiny duct tape on them so when the lights hit they shined.
I dont hate zombies, I just love killin em.
