I need some ideas. I really want to do a Monstermud reaper however, I will need him to separate into 2 pieces for storage. for some reason the wife does not want him in the yard all year... sadness.

    You thinking top/bottom, or side/side?

Pretty easy to do. Seperate it at the waist. Make sure that the top section extends down over the lower section to hide the joint. Use PVC as a connect/frame.

Yes depending on the armature you intend to use this should be pretty simple. We made our Pumpkinrot come apart in 3 pieces for easy storage; very similar to the way BeaconSamurai describes above. We have draped cheese cloth around neck joint to conceal, and the costume hides the torso/ribs and base.
What I am going to need is your standard flame thrower...

1st off I love the living room idea, sadly i received the look when mentioned.
and yeah I am thinking top bottom not sides.

good thinking about the overlap to conceal the separation , I am thinking that a connector in the middle of the pvc probably best way to do this on the support frame. will let everyone know how it goes.

Ever do a two part mold with plaster bandages?

Do your reaper as you are talking with the pvc, however only cover up the reaper from the waist/ torso down. Let that harden and seal it, then rub the top 4"-5" of your dried MM material in vaseline as a release agent. Then drape your top monster mud, once this dries and has been sealed. Seperate the two halves. It could be hidden pretty well if done correctly.
We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside of us
