    Need Overhead Projector Ideas PLEASE!!
    #1
    Guest Guest

I recently bought an overhead projector and I need ideas on what to do with it. Tried the 'search' button, but didn't really find anything.

This is what I'm thinking: Last year, I used the ghost (in pic) behind my faux screen door. This year, I'd like to put the ghost on a transparency and reflect it off the fog. (okay... my daughter will do that... ) But, do y'all think it's even do-able? (please, please, please say 'yes', cause i really want to do this!!! )

The projector will be hidden, possibly inside a tombstone. Will probably put it inside my Beloved. LOL

Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you, in advance.

I just saw a thread by someone where they hacked it and inserted a computer monitor in it. They had a fire going in it, but you could project a ghost or something.

Cathy, Have you checked out this thread? It appears as though he took a normal overhead projector and modified it to project video. Pretty cool if you already have the overhead part.

    homemade fire projection...sort of

I'm horrible with remembering names of props/threads but I never forget a project and have only seen one on the forum using an overhead projector. It involved a clear tray that he added a mix of oil(I believe) and fake blood so that it didn't mix. He then used a small fan to ripple the water and projected the blood onto his house. The fan made the water move and the effect was really neat. Maybe someone else will remember that video.
BTW... let me know what size bulb your projector uses. I got a box full of spares from the elementary school that I have been hanging onto for a few years now. My bulb was going to cost me $30 before I found one in all of those given to me.

    thank you everyone.

Deadna- thanks for that idea; has my brain going in a different direction now. I'll get back to you very soon on the light bulb; got to get the projector out of the trunk of my car. lol And I actually was a bit concerned about the cost of a bulb when I bought it. Would hate to go thru all the trouble to make a prop out of it, then the danged bulb go out and not be able to afford a replacement. LOL thanks.

I have a bunch of overhead projectors with the intent of making them into video projectors. The process is pretty easy oce you strip a lcd display down to its guts. I built a wooden base to hold it and double as a mask for the lit area not covered by the display.

I've taken it outside for theater viewing and it works great

You could make it to do singing pumpkins, like this

    Or hallowindow, like this

I would recommend a used dvd portable with a broken backlight. They are typically really cheap on ebay/craigslist and you wren't going to use the backlight anyways.
