I apologize if this project has been made before but my boyfriend is a mechanical geek and found a little project to do while I was on vacation. I think he got the idea from Gizmodo? I hope to use it for my Halloween Party: Hell on Earth theme this year. He said the project cost him $40 total. Anyway, here are the two videos he made at my request.

Wow! So, this is a way to get a moving image projected if you don't have a video projector but have an image projector, right? That cool.

I guess so? I'm not mechanically inclined AT ALL. But he basically bought an overhead and a monitor on craigslist, took the monitor frame and backing off and placed the guts on the back of the projector so just the LCD screen is projected. In the dark, it looked way better than I expected.

    Cool project!

You can find monitors on Ebay that are made to be used on overhead projectors. They are old and the resolution isn't that great but they work. I have 2 somewhere in my attic.

The problem is that overhead projector produces tons of heat!

I think my boyfriend got a smaller projector and he tested the heat, some infrared gadget, and it wasn't much hotter than our television. 110 degrees maybe? He also said the instructions he had recommended using a small fan for long hours of use.

School and office supply stores actually sell LED overhead projector bulbs that help eliminate the heat. They aren't quite as bright, but the price isn't that bad.

I see overhead projectors on here all the time plus a lot of other things used to make props with. You can do a advance search by state or city and find then in your area. I did a quick search and found these in Olathe, Kansas and Memphis

And a lot of them in Virginia with zero bids with the opening price at $65.00
