They are just a "Dumb" mechanical device that can possibly hurt you! They can move very quickly, slamming to a stop, wearing out parts, pieces, throwing off parts, pieces, becoming a catapult.
One time at Transworld I saw a woman get knocked flat by a "Mummy" as she walked passed the booth selling them. It had all the quickness and sudden violence of an NFL linebacker filling the hole and smacking down the ball-carrier, full-speed!
The repeated operating of pnuematics will shake bolts loose and possibly snap off regular hardware store (non-hardened) bolts. Lock washers will help.

Theres a few places such as fright props, grainger, monster guts.. as for the cheapest id go with ebay. You can find many different results on there for many different price budgets.
Heres a litle guide that might help as far as understanding basic pnuematics.

    http://www.docstoc.com/docs/297255/A...ial-Pneumatics

Once you get the basics and maube do alittle youube videos that shows you a visual demonstrations such as this:

then yull start to get visual on how it works in the video it looks like a trigger but im assuming it a solenoid activating the cylinder... if so i dont know why they made it look very similar to a trigger!

    Good luck,

wow Gym was sheltered, pnuematics can be very safe when used properly, set design and sound planning have a huge impact on when and if you can use pnuematics. Frightprops is very reasonable and they will help you get it figured out. there are single acting and double acting cylinders, double acting allow you to control the movement better. You never know what you are getting on ebay
