My first big project of the year is to make life-sized computer-controlled replicas of Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo from Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Here's the project so far:
Almost all of the parts are gathered. And believe me, it's a hellish scavenger hunt. I'll post more as I progress.
When they're done they'll look like this.

So how are you going to use these?
One application would be to have them live and controlled by hidden people...then they'd comment on TOTs in line waiting for candy!
The other would be to have clips of movies running and let the robots riff on them. This would be pre-recorded. And edit together a bunch of the worst possible scenes!

Hey Homey!
They're going to be in my pirate pub. Either singing with the band, behind the bar giving commentary on the band performance, or up in the Crow's nest (har-har). They really don't have anything in common with robotic skeletal pirates, except for the robot part. I love MST3K and as far as I can tell, nobody's made robotic replicas.
Thanks for the links!

I lovelovelove MST3K... I was a Joel fan, tho. He's the original builder of all of the puppets on that show.
I would be thrilled to see them in a halloween scene, and I love the idea of them being in a crow's nest. That is too funny!I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002
