    **STORY**

This is a horror/Halloween enthusiasts once in a life time find...I was in an antiques store looking for that one really strange, unique scary thing. For years, I have gone to flea markets, thrift stores, antique stores, halloween shops looking for that one item that was really distubing...

I saw this puppet in a glass case in the antiques store... I was immediately drawn to it.. I asked the girl that worked there if I could see it out of the case... She got real serious and said.. Ok, YOU can take it out, but I am not touching that thing.. She said that this thing was just creepy and that it gave her the creeps. She said that she would not touch it.. So I asked her if it was haunted and she said.. I think so...
Anyway, I ended up taking it out and it said Puppet WPA 1930's..Apparently WPA stands for WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION.. It was started by Frank Roosevelt during his administration. It was instituted to help the economy by offering employment to people in the 1930's, including artists.

Anyway, I know it sounds crazy, but I decided to sleep on the decision before I purchased it. 2 days later, I went back and bought it.

Anyway, if anything suspicious happens with it, I'll let you know

Here is a short video of it (sorry about the lighting) and some pics...

That thing looks like you might hear some pitter patter of little feet around 3:30 am.

Thanks obcessedwithit.. Ya, A little ventriloquist like.. However, it has a large sleeve that comes out of the back of it for someone to put their arm/hand in...

Hi chop.. Although I am not a big believer in ghosts.. However, If this thing did begin to move on it's own.. I would gladly post it and hopefully a video.. providing I did not have a heart attack

That puppet looks like someone tried to make "Dad" - all it needs is a pipe in its hand, and to say calm, reassuring things.

"Don't worry, son, when the zombies come I'll make sure to shoot them in the head. Dad won't let them eat your brain! Now go to bed."

Wow that is really cool and creepy all at the same time! My grandma insisted that my mom learn to be a ventriloquist in 1935 and bought her a Charlie McCarthy doll which I have now. He creeped us out growing up too

Hello JeffHaas.. One of the hands of the puppet is connected with a couple of threads. I assume this was for the puppet to hold something, maybe a pipe, during a puppet show in the 1930's.

Hi Deadna...Ironically enough, I believe and if I remember correctly, had the same Charlie McCarthy dummy when I was very young.. Don't really know what happened to it though... This pupppet is the kind with a sleeve that goes into the back..I have not tried it for fear it would fall apart..

This was really a great find... It is creepy and an actual piece of Americana.. It's not everday you come across an item that was made by an artist organization commisioned by Franklin D Roosevelt

Awesome find! I'd be throwing a sheet over that every night, so it wasn't staring at me! I think as a kid the R.L Stein book about the ventriloquist doll that came to life ruined any chance of me owning anything like that!

I'd about have a heart attack if I left it in that chair and it wasn't there when I got back! eeeek!

Before you "Trick-out" that creepy old puppet into a killer halloween prop you should get it checked out - Who knows maybe its worth more than you paid for it? Cool haunted item anyway you look at it.
