Terra is correct, the architectural term is "Corbel". You can purchase wooden corbels from hardware stores, but they can get expensive. I would recommend you take the 2 inch dense foam and carve them to look like corbels. These will be an inexpensive solution, and they should look pretty good when painted.
Here's a good site for examples: Cobels and Carvings

Good job Terra. I couldn't think of the name.

Fypon makes these in expanded polyurethane, ready to paint. Be aware, though, that most of the non-wood ones should be painted on ALL sides before they're installed outside.

Hey Cathy, on several occasions, I've had to either repair or duplicate and replace corbels on older homes that we've restored. The majority of the time, they are made up in layers as opposed to being carved from a solid piece of wood.

Each layer has the scroll work done separately and then it's all face glued together. (if you're making more than one, you can tack a few pieces together for each profile and cut them all at once) Should be fairly simple to duplicate them in foam.
I'm all that's left of a bizarre childhood.......
