A few years ago Lowes carried a single motion-sensored garden owl that had light up eyes, hooted, head turned and sang "Who could it be now?" in a Spanish accent. It was a Gemmy owl actually and more of a toy item than garden item although they sold it in the garden aisle LOL. I really haven't seen many owls like this (albeit without the singing) for a decent price. Found this Garden Defense Owl (two versions) today that is kind of interesting from Northern Tool & Equipment.
First version just hoots and his eyes light up, $19.99. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...ven=Aggregates
The Second version, Model 8021, with 4 motion sensors in the base will hoot, his eyes light up and his head turns towards the sound, $34.99. This one looks more like the Lowes Gemmy owl since it's head turns also but it's on the pricey side. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...ven=Aggregates
Was able to find it a few buck cheaper (didn't check out shipping though) at Teak Wicker and More but still not in the $20 price range.
Anyone seen any owls lately that are more like the Version 2 Model 8021 in the $20 price range?

OMG that owl is cute! I like his project on so many levels. I really like the look of the "feathers" he attached. The owl has so much more personality with him raising his wings a bit. I wonder which owl he used for his base. Also cool what he did with the electronics and Apple's Garage Band.
By the looks of the background of his video he has an infant at home and man that kid is going to probably be spoiled with cool things Dad builds!!
Thanks for posting the video Bobzilla. I am now contemplating some feathering on the Lowe's owl that I already have. I don't recall but I don't think his wings move at all.

Last year we had a kid from my Karate school come to see my display. He was dressed as Harry Potter. He had an owl puppet that looked real. His hand turned the head back and forth. At first I, my wife and others thought it was real. I was thinking of buying one and putting a motor in it to turn the head back and forth. Just a quick FYI.
