Hello, has anyone tried to make their own claustrophobia walls?
Would like to know how you did it. Thanks

What's a claustrophobia wall? Just tall, narrow walls that can move in and out to make the internal space larger or smaller?

I made a claustrophobia room last year.
Turned out awesome. Ours was 2 solid plywood walls. one each one I attached rip stop fabric that I sewed into a Fitted sheet shape. Each ended up around 7' x12' and the wall was just a little longer and around a foot taller. The fitted sheet like fabric was then screwed to the walls every 12" or so. Put washers in the screws so that the fabric doesnt pull through the fabric.
Ibought 2 jump house blowers off ebay. I cut a hole into each wall and had PVC pipe run into the hole and then out the back of the wall and to each blower.

Also when I sewed the fabric I used a heavy binding to sew all around the edges of the fabric where the screw would hold the 'sheet' onto the wall... This re-enforced the edges of the fabric so that when they were blown up they didnt pull and rip.
I used black tip stop fabric that I found online...

Total cost was around 300- 350 dollars to make. I can help you more if you have more questions.... so ask away. It was much easier than I anticipated!!!

One other thing. One wall we built very secure. The second one we left a little looser until we inflated the sheets or bags... then we moved the wall closer or futher away to get the "squeeze" pressure we wanted, then secured it VERY well.

This is where I got the fabric....

Omg.. thanks Lynn, First, i like the photos of your haunt . second any thing you can tell me about how you made them would be great. the fabric is 60 or 63 inches wide did you sew two pieces together?i was thinking of only doing the top half of the wall or 4 feet. i sounds real easy to do.

Eww - sounds and looks nasty and disturbing. I'd hate to have to walk through one of those. I've got this terrible fear of getting stuck in something. It's only popped up in the past couple years or so.. like in a McDonald's play structure or something..

I sewed 3 pieces together vertically. The 3 pieces were around 8 ft tall. Then once I had the 3 pieces together I sewed the corners into a pocket... take a look at a fitted sheet... it is like that without the elastic around the edges.
The around the whole outside edge I sewed on a heaving binding. This was extra strength around the edge so the screws held better... I double sewed all the seams too... especially on the binding.

ON to the walls.... Mine are about 8 ft tall. The finished fabric ended up being around 7 ft.. ( remember that the fabric is sewn like a fitted sheet and this fitted shee would fit a mattress about 7 ft tall.... so the wall was taller than the sheet.) This left about a foot at the bottom of the wall. I felt that having the space at the bottom would make walking just a little easier. And while researching... I think they all had a space at the floor.
I screwed the fabric to the wall...... just every so often. You can add more screws later if the fabric doesnt seem to fill up enough or too much air seems to escape when you walk through.
Remember to use large washers on the screws so they dont pull through the fabric.

The blowers.... I dont remember much about them... They are a mid sized blower. Cost a little ober 100 bucks each used. I made sure to buy 2 of the same... I didnt want one to over power the other.. ( neccessary or not ???? ) I then bought PVC pipe big enough to fit around the output of the blowers.. and ran the pvc into holes in the back of the walls.

Thats really about it. The only other 'trick' was that we left the one wall loose so we could adjust it... I wasnt really sure how far apart I needed them to be... It all depends on how 'deep' you make the pockets on your fitted sheets. I make mine pretty deep.

How this helps... feel free with more questions. Sorry for the repeat of a lot of this but I though that explaining it again I might explain it differently and may make more sense.
